Welcome to LTX in ED.
My name is Xavier Hernandez and I am grateful that you are viewing this project highlighting Latinx narratives in higher education. I am currently a graduate student at the University of Southern California obtaining my M.S. Integrated Design, Business, and Technology. I also received my B.S. Industrial and Systems Engineering from USC back in 2016. I have worked as an engineer, a teacher, and as an entrepreneur. Outside of school and work, I love skincare, running, and weightlifting. Throughout my life, I always felt underrepresented, in school, work, media, and many more places. As I chatted with my friends on and off campus I realized they felt the same way. We had become accustomed to our stories not being shared and our Latinx community in need of more positive representation in higher education. LTX in ED is here to tell our stories in a positive way while also showcasing the powerful themes we experience throughout our educational journey.
We are so much more than being just a student on campus. I am proud farm boy and have been working on a farm since I was fourteen years old. My life as a student has been a journey of failure and resilience learning how to be in the STEM field after being in the citrus fields my whole life.
LTX in ED contains narratives of our educational journeys. Each journey is navigated through a theme that each person chose to speak on. The themes are Resilience, First Generation, Imposter Syndrome, Intersectionality, STEM Education, Leaving Home, Immigration, Student Parents, Community Impact, and La Familia.
Show some love and appreciate these narratives in the exhibit. We have narratives ranging from freshmen year to PhD level students. We have over 10 different colleges represented. We have stories that deserved to be heard, read, and shared in a positive way. Enjoy the exhibit.
